1st Year...Planets

The solar system is made up of two parts:
	The inner solar system contains Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. These four planets are closest to the Sun.
	The outer solar system contains Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
	The inner planets are separated from the outer planets by the Asteroid Belt.

FACEBOOK, and TWITTER.

These two social networking sites work quite differently, but have the same core idea: to socialize on the web.


Facebook is a website that allows you to connect with your friends, share what you are doing, share photos, organize events, play games, and much more.

Twitter is a website that allows you to post shot, 140 character updates, and allows you to “follow” what your friends are doing, even if they don’t want to follow you.

Now, although these websites are alike in some ways, and different in others, many people compare them on the same level. In my eyes, though, they are two websites for completely different purposes.
When comparing Facebook to Twitter, many differences arise. Facebook is a more intimate site, that allows friends to have live conversations, comment on others statuses, share photo albums, organize events, and more.

Facebook also has more privacy settings than Twitter. It allows you to pick and choose who sees your photos and statuses, who can view your profile info, etc. You can choose to make your whole profile public, but it is set to private by default.

Conclusion

Twitter allows you to communicate to multitudes of people, while Facebook allows you to choose who you communicate with. Neither is better than the other overall, but they each excel at different tasks.

ENCUENTRO PROVINCIAL DE ALUMNOS CONECTADOS....EN CHAPADMALAL.....

Chicos-as: Presenté un proyecto sobre cómo trabajamos en el aula con la netbook y sobre este BLOG......y nos enviaron este mail.........WHO WANTS TO GO TO CHAPADMALAL??

Nos comunicamos con ustedes para aportar nueva información en torno a la organización del Encuentro Provincial de Estudiantes Secundarios Conectados, a realizarse los días 27, 28, 29 y 30 de septiembre, en la Unidad Turística Chapadmalal.

Para este evento las escuelas están preparando materiales que deben enviar a la Dirección Provincial de Educación Secundaria para ser presentados en los talleres que compartirán docentes y estudiantes de toda la provincia. Por este motivo, les solicitamos, nuevamente ratifiquen la inscripción para participar el encuentro y que a la brevedad posible envíen las producciones para exhibir el encuentro. La fecha límite de presentación es el 20 de septiembre. Cabe destacar que se trata de un encuentro de gran envergadura, dado que participarán 1500 estudiantes y 500 docentes de toda la provincia.

Además de las muestras de las producciones, se desarrollarán diferentes actividades educativas, recreativas y culturales.

¿Por qué aprender inglés?
Hoy más que nunca resulta imprescindible aprender inglés. Pero, ¿por qué?
En primer lugar, porque el inglés es la herramienta que permite la comunicación con personas de otros países, dentro del mundo globalizado en que vivimos. Es indiscutible: el inglés se ha convertido en el idioma global de comunicación por excelencia.
Por otro lado, para ciertas personas hablar inglés es indispensable cuando viaja, ya sea por turismo o negocios. En estos casos, es necesario hablar inglés para ir de compras, aprender inglés para poder tomar un tren sin perderse o para pedir la cuenta en un restaurante donde hablan solamente inglés.
Además, como ya lo habrás comprobado, la mayoría de las páginas de Internet se encuentran en idioma inglés. Mismo a la hora de utilizar la computadora, es importante tener al menos ciertos conocimientos del idioma inglés.

La Abadía de Westminster

Junto al Big Ben, la Abadía de Westminster ocupa el centro de la conciencia nacional inglesa. Esta monumental iglesia es conocida como panteón para las tumbas de lo más granado de la Monarquía, literatura, y ciencia inglesas. Ser enterrado en la Abadía ha constituido en la historia de la nación inglesa uno de los mayores honores que se le podía rendir a una persona.
Sus muros dan cobijo a excelentes ejemplos de arquitectura y arte medieval inglés y hoy se ofrece al visitante como una mezcla de Iglesia y Museo. Aunque siempre ha sido un monumento de culto, la retransmisión televisada del funeral de la Princesa Diana de Gales en Septiembre de 1997 consiguió triplicar los visitantes.

El templo desde fuera es impresionante. Del conjunto de la abadía es notable el techo de la capilla, resuelto con bóvedas de abanico de exuberante nervadura, uno de los mejores ejemplos del gótico perpendicular maduro. Al exterior su nota más destacada es la resolución de la cabecera del transepto. Iniciada su obra en 1245 bajo el mandado de Enrique III, se levantó por encima de una antigua basílica. Esta abadía sirve de incomparable escenario a la coronación y sepulcro de los monarcas británicos. Uno de los lugares preferidos es el rincón de los poetas, donde descansan los restos de Charles Dickens, Geoffrey Chaucer, Samuel Johnson y Rudyard Kipling. Podemos visitar las tumbas de eminentes científicos británicos como Isaac Newton y Charles Darwin. Distinto fue el destino de Oscar Wilde, que tras años de marginación por su homosexualidad, se le puso una placa conmemorativa en 1995.
En el pasado la Piedra del Destino, que es la piedra de coronación escocesa, permaneció debajo de una silla de madera y formó parte de las ceremonias de coronación. Sin embargo, a mediados de 1996 el gobierno decidió devolverla a Escocia y hoy luce en el Castillo de Edimburgo.
